Why Coaching Is Worth Your Investment
Mar 22, 2024
Did you make a New Year's Resolution?
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you did, chances are you've failed by mid-January.
Research shows that 80% of people lose their motivation to see their resolutions through just weeks into the new year.
You know what vastly improves your odds of success?
Working with a coach.
According to the International Coaching Federation, 99% of individuals and companies who hire a coach are "satisfied or very satisfied" and 96% say they would repeat the process.
Not only that, but people are 88% more likely to achieve their goals if they work with a coach.
WRITING TIP OF THE WEEK: Work with a Coach
Coaches are effective for a number of reasons – and this applies to book coaching just as much as to coaching in other areas, such as business or fitness.
- They have expertise in your area. I've been helping people birth their books as a coauthor, ghostwriter, and freelance editor for 25 years. I know the publishing industry from the inside out, and I know how to write a book that sells.
- They help you set SMART goals. Coaches assist you in developing goals that are scientifically proven to succeed. These goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound (SMART).
- They hold you accountable. Simply asking someone else to hold you to your stated objectives vastly improves your odds of success. Your coach will keep you to your deadlines.
- They're your number one fans. Coaches are gifted at cheering you on and working with you to overcome stumbling blocks. You're no longer in it alone!
So if you're looking for a way to make your New Year's resolution come to fruition, I hope you'll consider a book coach to help you reach the finish line.
There are many reputable coaches out there who will work with you individually, or you can consider joining a cohort-based program for a more affordable approach.
Either way, just make sure you're working with someone who understands the art of storytelling as well as how to work strategically within the current realities of the ever-changing publishing industry.
