Manifesting Success in the New Year

Mar 22, 2024

When he was an aspiring actor, Jim Carrey used to cruise up Mulholland Drive at night, park his car in a spot with sweeping views over Los Angeles, and visualize success.

He would imagine himself as a famous, successful actor.

He even wrote himself a check for $10 million from a major Hollywood studio.

And then, a few years later, Carrey found out that he was going to make Dumb and Dumber... for $10 million.

Yup, that really happened.

WHY IT WORKS

Writing a bestselling book takes more than just manifesting success.

It requires hard work, daily discipline, and commitment.

And manifesting can help.

It's not just woo-woo hippie talk; there's scientific evidence behind the power of manifestation.

One: Manifestation is a form of positive self-affirmation, which serves to boost your confidence.

Two: When you take time to manifest daily, the goal you are working towards becomes part of your identity, so you take the task more seriously.

Three: You're more likely to talk about what you're aiming to achieve with others in your life, which means you're enlisting their support in your journey.

So as we ring in 2024, let's get manifesting!

WRITING TIP OF THE WEEK: Visualize Your Bestselling Book

Have fun visualizing your success as a published author.

  1. Picture yourself opening the cardboard box containing your books for the first time – really feel the joy that you feel, the pride you have in yourself for having achieved such a feat.
  2. Imagine your readers talking to you at a book signing event, telling you how profoundly your work has shaped their lives.
  3. If you're savvy with drawing or using generative AI (e.g. Canva, Dall-E), then create your book cover art. Be sure to include your name in big letters and the works "New York Times Bestseller" or a quote from your favorite author endorsing your book.

Aloha,

MeiMei

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"I would visualize having directors interested in me and people that I respected saying, 'I like your work,' and I would visualize things coming to me that I wanted."

– Jim Carrey in a 1997 appearance on Oprah
